Transforming Congregations
The weekend of October 17th to 19th brought to our church a consultation team of five people. They interviewed staff members, held a focus group on Friday night and spent five hours on Saturday with the leadership of the congregation. Their purpose was to evaluate our ministry and give a report of our strengths, weaknesses and five prescriptions for growth.
Their report is in the November newsletter. Please read it. The sermons over the next several weeks will deal with the five prescriptions. A special Voters meeting will be held in early December. Plans are to have forums to discuss these prescriptions. Above all, keep this process in your prayers.
Jesus Bless You!

Members: Please attend the regular Voters Meeting on Tuesday, November 18th at 7:00 pm so that you can qualify to vote at the special December 14th Voters Meeting (11:45 am) regarding whether we proceed with the Transforming Congregations process.
To cast a vote at the special meeting, you must be a member of ORLC who has attended at least one Voters Meeting in the past calendar year. Attending the November meeting will qualify you to vote if you are not already qualified.
Transforming Congregations!
Our congregation was selected to be one of four in the Pacific Southwest District to be the first to go through a new synod-wide effort called, "Transforming Congregations." It is an effort to provide support and assistance to congregations who recognize the need for renewed health and viability. The district's goal is to have 100 churches in the Transformation Process by 2017.
Our officers and board members approved this process for our congregation. There was a weekend consultation in October 2008, when a team of consultants visited our campus and spoke to many people and the entire congregation. We now have time to determine if we will buy into the Transformation process.
I believe this is very healthy for us as a church. We have now come off our 50th anniversary and need to have outsiders come and look at us and give us direction for the next 5-10 years. You will hear more about this as Fall progresses.
